The fifth through eight grades have been the core of Odyssey’s program since its founding. These are crucial years for students with learning disabilities, since many questions about identity and esteem will begin to be answered during them. They are also crucial years for intervention and remediation. Many educators consider them to be the most important years in a student’s academic life.

The Odyssey middle school program offers:
- core academic classes
- weekly Connections classes
- a character-centered community, driven by Tribes instruction
- a regular service-learning component
- an annual MO Ranch trip
- an annual eighth grade class trip to Washington, D.C.
- extensive remediation services
- full afterschool enrichment program
- and the chance to be a member of a positive, dynamic community of learners.
