Our students are focused on their academics because of our commitment to small class sizes, our mandatory Study Skills curriculum, and our blend of positive instruction and engaging project-based learning. We follow Texas recommendations in curriculum decisions, with the crucial difference that our students work towards mastery. We do not move forward in our curriculum unless our students’ can move forward with us.
A typical student work day might include small-group instruction in Math, an hour of building circuits in Science, a collaborative reading performance in Language Arts, self-assessment curriculum in Study Skills, one-on-one Math tutoring in the afternoon, an Art elective, and a fun, non-competitive activity during PE elective.
Odyssey’s teachers are multi-faceted in our training and backgrounds, and we draw on these diverse skill sets for the good of our students. We realize that, for this population of children, motivation is the driving force behind academic success. We are committed to developing enthusiastic learners with solid study habits.
High School
Our curriculum is geared to meet the needs and goals of the individual learner — whether that be a four-year college, a community college, straight into the workforce, or some alternative combination. We offer Trigonometry and Calculus, Physics and Spanish I & II, but always at the pace of the individual student, and always with the difference of individualized instruction. Ultimately, our curriculum is geared to steer our students towards their highest potential.
