In 2004, Odyssey became a Tribes Learning Community. Because many of our students come to Odyssey with low self-esteem and occasional behavioral issues due to negative school experiences, creating a positive learning environment is essential. In a Tribes learning community, the emphasis is on cooperation in small membership groups (tribes) for peer support and social responsibility.
The TRIBES agreements are:
- Mutual respect
- Attentive Listening
- Personal Best/Right to Pass
- Appreciations/No Put-downs
In the summer of 2011, Odyssey renewed its status as a Tribes Learning Community and all of our staff received an intensive Tribes training.
