Background
I am a native of Texas, and have lived in Austin for the past 15 years. My daughter Angela attended Odyssey School and that is how I became interested in teaching here. I previously taught at Odyssey School for 7 years. I have also taught in public schools around Austin. I enjoy cycling and other outdoor activities.
Teaching Philosophy
As a parent of a child with learning differences, I know first hand how a student can become frustrated with school. As a teacher, I try to help students overcome this frustration by playing to their strengths. I believe that every student can be successful. I like to use cooperative learning in the classroom to promote social as well as academic skills. Through cooperative learning I can encourage students to pursue their interests and curiosity about a topic. I also work to challenge students to become more critical thinkers.
The Odyssey Difference
At Odyssey School, small class size allows me to work closely with students to develop academic skills and help them realize their strengths. Collaboration among teachers also allows us to offer a broader range of learning opportunities for students.
