Background:
I have a BS Secondary Education and a MA Public Policy. I just recently retired from public education after over 30 years as a math teacher. Courses taught include most everything from 7th grade math to AP Calculus.
Teaching Philosophy:
My basic philosophy of teaching is to get students engaged and successful in their learning. I usually demonstrate a concept at the board, then ask the students to try some similar problems. If they are successful, I give them some independent practice. If they are not successful, then we try more examples together. Once students are successful, I also like to “stretch” them with a problem or two that requires them to apply what they have learned in a new or novel situation.
The Odyssey Difference:
What I love about Odyssey is the relaxed atmosphere for students and teachers, as well as the small class size so that I can work one-on-one as needed.
