At Odyssey School, students who might find themselves sidelined in a larger educational setting can occasionally take leadership roles as members of the student government. This is such an essential part of our program – the ability to take safe risks. Getting up before the entire student body and giving a campaign speech? Not in a million years!
But they do. Last year, more than half of them did. That’s the Odyssey difference. We are a community of learners: supportive, accepting, respectful. For many students, Odyssey is the first place where they’ve felt safe to take this kind of risk.

Odyssey is proud to be an inaugural member of the Austin Youth Council, to which dozens of high schools send delegates and whose mission is to engage high school students in city government.
